What's In Your Baby Formula? Formulas To Avoid

Amit Jivani

There are quite literally hundreds of types of baby formulas on the market today, most are pure marketing gimmick's.  Most large companies like Similac and Enfamil spend roughly $400-$500 million on advertising every year.  So its no wonder why these are the "top" brands.  Among heavy advertisements, both these companies give their formulas to hospitals to promote to their patients with new born babies.  With both my children, nurses would continually bring in bottles of ready to feed similac or enamel.  There were new rules set forth in 2016, hospitals are no longer allowed to offer formula unless mom signs a consent form of the "risks" of formula feeding.  This is one step in the right direction!  When my son was born in 2012, I remember being told that there was no real differences between breastmilk and formula feeding.  A lot has changed in the recent years, and thankfully for the better of the health of our babies.

Here are some formulas to avoid at all costs due to repulsive ingredients, we only list the main ingredients, if the first 10 ingredients are bad, you can ensure the rest are synthetic, lab-made ingredients that are most likely banned in the European nation. We basically recommend staying away from any Enfamil or Similac products.  Not only are they ridden with many ingredients that shouldn't be touching the skin of of a infant, but their ingredients are genetically modified as well.  Not to mention any diary that is found in their formulas will be from cows  treated with hormones & GMO feeds.
